การรู้ cardiac output ช่วยในการวินิจฉัย รักษา ติดตามประเมินการรักษาในโรคบางอย่างได้
เริ่มจากคำนวน Stroke volume ก่อน
โดยวัด LVOT diameter
คำนวน LVOT area โดยใช้สูตร
ใช้ Pulse wave(PW) ที่ LVOT
วัด LVOT flow ซึ่งก็คือ Velocity time integral(VTI) of LVOT
คำนวน Stroke volume (Stroke volume = LVOT area x ปริมาณเลือดที่ผ่าน LVOT)
จากสูตร
คำนวน Cardiac out put = Stroke volume x heart rate
เพิ่มเติม:
Systolic index (ml/m2)= Stroke volume / body surface area
Cardiac output (l/min) = Stroke volume x Heart Rate Cardiac index (l/min/m2) = Cardiac output x body surface area
