Adverse effects
Oral supplementation generally is safe and well-tolerated; some reports of nausea, vomiting, diarrhea; overdose may lead to hypotension, muscle weakness, and coma
Contraindications
Patients with renal impairment (creatinine clearance of less than 30 mL per minute [0.5 mL per second]) may be at risk of heart block or hypermagnesemia
